The Top 4 Risks You Will Have to Take If You Have a Big Dream

Risks for a Big Dream

Many people avoid going after big dreams because they don’t believe they can achieve them. However, some avoid chasing big dreams because they are never ready to take the risks involved.

As a big dream chaser, I analyzed the risks I always take for me to achieve my goals. I also researched what big achievers risked to achieve their dreams, and I pinpointed the following top 4 risks you will have to take if you are a big dream chaser.

4 Risks You Will Have to Take as a Big Dream Chaser

1. Relationship Risk

Whether you like it or not, you will risk your relationships if you want to achieve something big because achieving big things requires lots of your time.

You will be forced to stop associating with friends who don’t support you in achieving your dreams. Furthermore, sometimes your workload might be too much that you will be forced to reduce the time you spend with your family or spouse.

Before I started blogging, I never knew it will take a lot of my time. I just thought that I would only have to write three articles a week, share them on social media, and that’s all.

However, when I started blogging I realized that creating a successful blog requires lots of time and effort.

It dawned on me that I had to guest-post, write three articles per week, read books, network, participate in blog forums, and the list goes on and on.

I, therefore, realized that I needed to create extra time for me to do all these things effectively, considering the fact that I also have to work on another job to pay my bills.

I had to reduce the time I spend with my family and friends because I had to use a large percentage of my time doing blogging stuff. The good thing is that my family members understand that I’m working on something important to my life.

However, some friends decided to end their relationship with me because they felt I never cared about them.

I felt bad that some relationships had to end, but then it dawned on me that it’s a normal thing for big dream chasers.

Therefore, if you are a big dream chaser, be ready to put some of your relationships at risk. Those who will understand that big dreams require lots of time will stick with you, but those who won’t will leave. Let them leave. It’s your life, not theirs.

2. Health Risks

Health experts require us to sleep for 7 to 8 hours a day. However, as a big dream chaser, you will sometimes sleep less than three hours because you will want to create more time for working on your dreams. Sometimes you might fail to sleep at all.

Some of the world’s most successful people, for example, Herbert Kelleher (Co-founder of Southwest Airlines), and Indra Nooyi (CEO of PepsiCo) reveal that they only sleep for 4 hours a day.

It is unclear if the sleeping pattern of these individuals has affected their health. However, research reveals that sleeping for less than 5 hours a day can take a huge toll on your health.

Besides having less sleep, your big dreams will sometimes result in you failing to eat because you will always be absorbed in your work that you forget to eat.

Many successful people agree that when chasing their dreams, they worked so hard that they forgot to eat for a day.

Therefore, you might put your health at risk if you are a big dream chaser because you might have less sleeping hours, and you might also adopt poor eating habits.

3. Financial Risks

If you are a big dream chaser, you will have to part with your personal savings for you to get things started. You will have to invest continually a large percentage of your income in your dream without getting immediate returns.

Besides this, you won’t be sure if your investments will help in the realization of your dreams because most of them will be based on trial and error.

4. Emotional Risk

All big dream chasers risk their emotional stability because a big dream often results in a big gap between your desired future, and present circumstances hence resulting in you constantly worrying if you will achieve your dream.

Sometimes you will doubt if you are heading towards the right direction, and occasionally you will think about the things that might happen in case you fail. For this reason, you will sometimes lose sleep because of anxiety and worry.

Concluding Remarks

If you are a big dreamer, be ready to take the above risks because a true dreamer always does whatever it takes to reach his/her dream.

Take risks even when risk-taking is frightening because achieving success is almost impossible without taking risks.
