Achieving your dreams is the best thing that can happen to you because you’ll feel fulfilled, happier, and richer when you live the life of your dreams.
However, going after your dreams is one big struggle that requires high levels of determination, focus, and perseverance.
The journey is tough, and many people give up because they cannot stand the difficulties.
If the journey was easy, everyone could have achieved their dreams. The fact that few people achieve their dreams proves that dream chasing is difficult.
Lately, I have been wondering about the factors that make the journey difficult, and I realized the seven major reasons why achieving your dreams is difficult.
1. You Will Have To Make Many Sacrifices
The journey to your dreams will require you to make many sacrifices because you’ll realize that the more sacrifices you make, the quicker you move towards your dreams.
You will, therefore, have to sacrifice sleep, entertainment, and going out regularly so that you have ample time to work towards your goals.
Many people find it hard to make such sacrifices. However, if you want to achieve your dreams, making sacrifices is not an option.
2. You Will Make Many Mistakes
After chasing your dreams for a certain period, you will realize that you’ve made many mistakes that have been holding you back.
You will have to accept and correct these mistakes, even when it means starting your journey afresh.
Most people fail to accept their mistakes, and they give up when they realize that they have to start again: they eventually believe that they were not meant to achieve their dreams.
3. You Will Have to Work And Wait
Chasing your dreams might require you to work extremely hard for a long period before they come true. Sometimes, you might even work for two years without seeing any progress.
This experience is difficult for many people because most folks expect to see progress immediately they start working towards their dreams.
4. It Might Take Time to Know What Works For You
If you are a dream chaser, I am sure you have realized that it might take time before you know the right strategy. For this reason, you might have to keep re-strategizing until you find the one strategy that makes you progress quickly.
Personally, I’m still trying to pinpoint the best strategy that will drive huge traffic to my blog, and I won’t give up until I find a strategy that works for me.
It’s irritating to work on a strategy for a long period, only for you to find out that it doesn’t work. However, don’t hesitate re-strategizing because it’s part of dream chasing. Keep testing various strategies and one day you’ll find one that works for you.
5. You Will Have To Take Risks
Many people avoid taking risks so that they avoid failure and emotional stress. However, as a dream chaser, you will have to take risks whether you like it or not. You will have to invest your funds, time, and energy in your dream even though you are not sure about achieving it.
It is difficult to take risks, but you will have to do so because risks increase your creativity. Moreover, they enable you to overcome the fear of failure and uncover unforeseen opportunities that will help you progress quicker.
6. You Will Be Discouraged
Chasing your dreams is also difficult because you will face discouragement.
Many people including your family and friends will discourage you because they will consider your pursuit unrealistic. They will encourage you to follow the conventional path to happiness and fulfillment.
People will provide you with a million reasons why you will fail, and they will even provide you with the evidence of people who tried but failed to achieve their dreams.
Discouragement might demotivate you and make you feel like giving up. For this reason, you will have to motivate yourself constantly to avoid staying discouraged.
7. You Will Have to Work So Hard
I believe hard work separates winners from losers. People who achieved their dreams worked so hard to achieve them.
50 Cent once revealed that he always worked so hard that he forgot to sleep. Besides 50 Cent, Elon Musk also revealed that while starting his first company he worked 7 days a week, and his girlfriend had to sleep in the office in order to be with him.
Therefore, dreams require extreme hard work and most people find dream chasing difficult when they realize the amount of hard work their dreams will require from them.
With this in mind, it is clear that dream chasing is not an easy thing, and for this reason, many people give up.
Only the resilient and the mentally tough folks achieve their dreams despite the difficulties they face on the journey. These people fear nothing, and they are always ready to face and overcome any challenge. You must be like them if you want to achieve your dreams.
